Everything is going well. I will be 29 weeks on Wednesday. Ava is kicking like crazy.. yikes, I feel like my uterus is going to pop out. I get another ultrasound in a couple of more weeks. Until then.. just enjoying this wonderful weather and cannot wait to meet our little girl
My baby shower is in 4 weeks. wahoo! I am really excited. My mom and sister are throwing it for me, and I know it’s going to turn out great. I already know we’re getting the stroller travel system, pack ‘n play, and extra car seat.. all the big things are taken care of. Now, just need lots of cute little baby clothes. eeek, cannot wait!
Shame on me, not updating all week. Honestly, I have just been super swamped with school work (mid-terms apparently were this past week), cleaning, figuring out finances, working, and just analyzing a lot of things. Luckily we have spring break beginning Friday, therefore I don’t have any actual class all week (although, I suppose that’s the time for me to do a bunch of extra credit assignments to make sure I get the best grade I can get!) Cause let’s be honest, another month and I will be absolutely dreading any type of work with my absolute zero amount of energy.
So, I am 27 weeks this week.. only 13 weeks to go! To me, it seems like still so far to go. But, then again, I’m already pretty much in the third trimester.. and my baby shower is in about a month (so soon!) Getting everything ready before mid-June is going to be crazy and hectic. ah. P.S. I should really post a pregnancy photo.. my fiance says my bump is adorable & small. And I am really wondering if I am that small for 27 weeks, cause I feel like I should be whale-size by now lol
Okay, so apparently I have been so uninformed on really anything about labor in general. So, last night I randomly began to do research on epidurals. And, oh my, I did not like what I was reading. Honestly, I had no idea it made you lose feeling in everything below the waist, so much that you can’t even feel if you’re pushing or not. Or, the side effects that it brings. Knowing me, I have always hated anesthesia (the side effects have always made me so sick), and this sounds a lot worse!
Then, I began researching natural births, without epidurals. Before any of this, I have always been “100% epidurals.” But, that was uninformed me. Now, I am very pro-natural birth. Obviously, I need to do a little more looking around, talk to some of my doctors about it, but I really think that may be better. Any labor will hurt, but do I really need this huge needle of pain medication to calm me down?! Hmm, I have a lot to think about.
Any moms with experience, what do you think?
Okay, so after having our crib set-up for over a week, the changing table finally arrived yesterday — it was only $120! Let me tell you, I tried to put it together myself (trying to prove that it wasn’t that hard), and it took me probably 2 hours to assemble half of it. While it took my fiance only another 30 minutes to assemble the other half. Thank god I have him! Lesson learned: leave the furniture-building to him! 🙂
Anyways, the room still looks a little bare.. as I haven’t hung anything on the walls yet, or gotten the room decor (we have a matching lamp, wall decals, & mobile on our registry.. that will wait til the baby shower at the end of April!) Also, I am making very cute letters to hang on the wall as well — so, you guys just get the “in-the-works” nursery photos for now. But, it’s the thought that counts, right? 🙂
Finally, we’re at the 6 month-mark! That’s exciting to say.. especially since there’s only 16 weeks, or 4 months, left! 🙂 Although, those who’ve never been pregnant get super confused when it adds up to 10 months instead of nine.. (they think I just can’t count lol.)
Not a lot going on, as I’m just getting bigger.. and baby is moving around a lot more (I think she likes my music, as she moves a lot more when I put it up to my belly.) I feel purchased my first pair of maternity jeans, which are really comfy! They are just a little baggy, but I guess you have to give-and-take for the comfortable jeans (instead of having those that don’t fit you…)
Once our changing table arrives (tomorrow!!), I’ll take some progress photos of how the nursery is coming a long since we have the crib already up and ready. I’m also currently making some cute letters for her name to hang on her wall, so hopefully those will be finished too. I feel like there is still so much to do within the next 4 months, especially due to the fact that soon I will not be that fond of moving around too much :p
I’m horrible, not posting any ‘bump’ pictures. I just have no motivation to. I feel like my belly should be bigger than it is. But, I can definitely tell a difference in how round mine has gotten so quickly, as well as poking out 🙂 I will get around to those eventually…
But, I love this ultrasound of her.. this was taken on Friday, 2/8, at 21 1/2 weeks. I love how you can see her little hand 🙂Every time I see these photos, or even feel a bit of movement, I just wonder: “how do we, as humans, create just a wonderful thing? This precious baby girl that I love so much, and she isn’t even here yet. I cannot wait to see her beautiful face!”
They thought Ava needed another ultrasound (two weeks after getting the anatomy scan), and she looks great and kicking well! Being sent to a ‘high-risk’ specialist, only due to the fact that I had Lymphoma when I was 15, and they want to monitor my heart throughout the last half of the pregnancy. Although, they think that I will be fine.
Oh, that just means a few more ultrasounds than normal.. But hey, I don’t mind seeing our baby more often 🙂 I’m starting to feel her move, finally! And, I did feel a kick the other day when I was outside at the park (yeah, in the Midwest, sometimes we get 60 degree days in the winter… but, it was nice!)
Anyways, here I am at 21 1/2 weeks.. and boy, my belly has grown significantly in the past two weeks. About time, I suppose, since my ‘bump’ was pretty much non-existent. Ready for these next 19 weeks :p
